In a stern tone, diplomatic sources in Athens responded to a statement by the Turkish Foreign Ministry regarding the NAVTEX notices issued by Greece and Cyprus for the commencement of surveys by the French vessel “Abeille Marengo“, in relation to the Greece-Cyprus electrical interconnection cable.

“The operations of the French research vessel “VB Abeille Marengo” will proceed according to the company’s operational schedule, within Greek and Cypriot territorial waters and in areas of the Greek and Cypriot continental shelf,” Greek diplomatic sources stress.

They further add, pointedly, that “International Law of the Sea is clear and leaves no room for differing interpretations.”
