An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale was reported off the coast of western Crete.

The epicentre of the tremor is located off the port city of Chania at Paleochora. The quake in western Crete originates from the epicentre located 19 kilometres southwest of Paleochora in Chania, according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens. The focal depth of the earthquake is 10 kilometres, making it relatively superficial.
