Greek producers are waiting with anxiety the developments in the Russian embargo, while it remains unknown whether Russia will accept the 3,000 trucks with Greek peaches and nectarines which are on their way to Russia.
In Athens, the ministries continue the discussion on the Russian embargo. Specifically, according to Imerisia newspaper, Greek ministries are discussing about the products which are still in refrigerators.
In particular, the Ministry of Development might ask from the Ministries of Defence and Health to absorb the fruits affected by the Russian embargo through the army and the hospitals, while it is in contact with the Hotel Association so as hotels would absorb directly the products.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has very low expectations regarding possible exceptions.
Also, the government considers to seek compensation from EU, or to provide these products to other markets. It is also considered to ask EU to allow Greece use an amount of NSRF funding to compensate farmers in the context of European legislation.
