97 people fell in the water off the coast of Northern Ireland

A near-tragedy during a sailing race

A major rescue operation is underway in Northern Ireland, where 97 people are missing in the sea.

It all happened during a sailing race, which involved about 80 vessels.

Sudden storms in the region led to many a capsizing, with the crew falling in the water.

According to Sky News, 13 rescue boats and two helicopters are on the point in Strangford Lough, south of Belfast, while six sailors have been rescued so far.

Heavy rain and strong winds hit the area and caused the capsizing of vessels.

Shortly after, search and rescue teams stated that all members of the sailing race who were unlucky to fall in the water were found and are being collected.
