Lithuania is perceived to be the country with the most widespread government corruption, according to an international survey conducted by Gallup in 40 countries (Greece was not included). Gallup conducted phone interviews to countries with a free press asking respondents whether they believed there there was extensive corruption in their governments. Six countries out of the top ten were European. The findings showed that 90 pct of Lithuanians believed their government was very corrupt. Portugal came in second with 86 pct believing there was widespread corruption in their government, followed by Ghana (85 pct), Spain (84 pct) and the Czech republic with 83 pct. The US was 13th with 75 pct saying their government were mired in corruption, while the 46 pct of Brits believed there was corruption in the UK.
