The Ionian island of Cephallonia was the latest region hit by adverse weather in southeast Europe, with torrential rains and subsequent flooding knocking out the power on the isle on Friday for several hours. Weather reports, in fact, predicted even more rain in the evening and early morning.
Flood-damaged shops and homes were also reported, along with blocked roadways at several spots around the verdant isle. Cephallonia was inundated after more than three hours of heavy rainfall. On Wednesday, the island of Skopelos, in the central Aegean, sustained heavy flooding.
