Mary Linda is considered to be one of the myths of the golden era of traditional Greek folk singing.
Yet, she is not one who will just revel in those golden years and lie complacent. Marking the anniversary of a 60-year long career, she held a magnificent concert on June 25th.
The crowd was ecstatic over her timeless voice, energy and verve.
Directed by Thomas Moshopoulos, the event naturally included the golden hits of the era by Manolis Hiotis, with whom they used to be a milestone duo.
It also included other top musical achievements made by significant Greek composers.
Part of the concert was dedicated to the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, and in another remarkable part of this musical evening, she was on stage with the contemporary folk art music band of Imam Baildi.
By her side, the audience had the chance to enjoy also many other great contemporary artists, such as Apurimac and Gadjo Dilo.
Among the attendants were the Canadian Ambassador Robert Peck and his wife Maria, the Athens Festival director Giorgos Loukos, the Greek singer Haroula Alexiou, Mimis Plessas, a great composer himself, and lyrics writer Loukia Karrer.
They all extended their warmest applause in a night to remember.
