Labour Minister Giorgos Katrougalos admitted in his article published in newspaper Avgi that his plan on social security reform confiscate the income of certain classes of self-employed while adding that the social security bill leads to “unfair results” adding that even “the fairest rules can be reviewed and corrected”.

President of the Professional Chamber of Athens Yannis Chatzitheodosiou and the President of Chamber of Crafts Athens Pavlos Ravanis told Labour Minister during their meeting that some groups of self-employed will be called to pay to the state about 80% of their income, due to 20% contributions hike and the tax obligations provided by the new bill.

Moreover, scientific bodies emphasized that the implementation of the measures included in the draft law would destroy self-employed. For example, a lawyer with zero  annual and from the first day of his registration in the union will have to pay 2,823 euros on annual contributions, whereas a lawyer with 5,000 euros annual income will have to pay 2,823 euros on annual contributions.
