During the press briefing government’s spokesperson Olga Gerovasili was asked about the possibility of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras granting a TV channel license to a Turkish channel.

Mrs. Gerovasili responded that “Alexis Tsipras met with the owner of Turkish channel TV8, Acun Ilicali, on November 17, 2015, after the end of a friendly football match between Turkey-Greece which was broadcast by the TV channel TV8.

“The two men met each other in the hallway after the match,” said Mrs. Gerovasili answering on the meeting between the Turkish TV channel owner and the Prime Minister.

“He said that his channel had some talks with Greeks and he is interested in buying a TV channel” Mrs. Gerovasili added referring to Acun Ilicali told Alexis Tsipras.

“The Prime Minister answered yes, you see, there will be a transparent international competition ” continued Mrs. Gerovasili.

Asked on the photo of Alexis Tsipras and Acun Ilicali, Mrs. Gerovasili explained that whoever meets with the prime minister can take a photo.
