Clashes between residents and police on Kos island

Police threw tear gas and chemicals

Violent episodes broke out on Friday between riot police and the residents of the island of Kos at the old military camp of Pyli.

About 300 residents gathered outside the camp to protest against the plans of the Greek government to construct a hotspot in the area.

Police threw tear gas and chemicals and according to protesters two of them were sent to hospital while others had respiration problems.
