Liberation: Early elections in June in Greece?

It will be difficult for SYRIZA - ANEL coalition government to survive through the social security reform

Newsroom March 16 11:29

An article written by journalist Jean Quatremer in French newspaper Liberation refers to the recent polls conducted which show that SYRIZA’s percentage has dropped compared with January 2015 and asks whether SYRIZA will soon become opposition.

In the article entitled “Greece: Will SYRIZA become soon opposition?” the journalist describes the difficult situation that Alexis Tsipras’ party has to face asking: “Will Alexis Tsipras government last until summer?”.

“With a small majority of three seats (153 out of 300 seats), it will be difficult for SYRIZA – ANEL coalition government to survive through the social security reform which is called to implement in the coming months,” the article mentions.

“Many people in Athens, where I was ten days ago for a conference, were talking about early elections next July,” French journalist claims that he heard during his recent visit to Greece.

As Jean Quatremer mentions, the latest polls which show SYRIZA being second with 20-25% denote a significant drop in its popularity.
