In the wake of the Wikileaks revelations where a conversation between IMF rep Delia Velculescu and IMF senior officer Paul Thomsen showed the Fund was pushing for harsher measures on the the Greek government, Greek PM Alexis Tspiras is considering sending a letter to the IMF demanding explanations on the leaked information. Government sources believe the IMF wanted to cause a credit event and destabilise the Eurozone. Meanwhile, WSJ reporter Marcus Walker tweeted that the misspelling of the name as ‘Velkouleskou’, instead of the correct ‘Velculescu’ suggests the information was written by a Greek service. The whistleblower site responded immediately to the allegation tweeting that the spelling was theirs and belonged to no Greek services.
