Former President of ‘Errikos Dunant Hospital Center’, Andreas Martinis was led to prison, following his plea before Corruption Prosecutor Nikos Tsironis, Thursday. Martinis had been charged with receiving 3.1 Deutsch marks in bribes from German company ‘Hospitalia’. Martini is accused of receiving bribes from ‘Hospitalia’ to procure the hospital with its mecial equipment. Martini’s wife Georgia was released on a 600,000 Euro bail, the obligation to appear before the local police station twice a month and her banning from traveling abroad. ‘Unfortunately I was unable to persuade the prosecutor’, Martinis told reporters exiting the court building. Both Martinis and his wife claimed the money found in their bank accounts was legal and had been taxed.
