The newest craze sweeping the European clubs is drinking, eating, and even snorting cocoa in lieu of traditional inebriates like booze or club drugs.
In recent months, cacao has transcended its already lofty status as a superfood and vaulted into the realm of party drugs. In this latest incarnation, cacao powder is taking the place of alcohol and illicit substances like Molly and ecstasy in parts of Western Europe, as Ozy reports.
Chocoholic ravers are popping cacao pills at dance parties hosted by Morning Gloryville, a company known for their substance-free a.m. parties. And one chocolatier has even invented a $50 snorting device for a faster sugar fix, says New York Post.
One study published in 2007 at the journal Appetite shows that chocolate boosts serotonin levels and activates our pleasure center by releasing endorphins.
