According to Turkish news agency Dogan, three jihadists, who were reportedly planning to carry out a terrorist attack against an LGBT demonstration in Constantinople, were arrested by Turkish authorities Friday. Turkish police found knives and belts with explosives during a search in their apartment, Friday. The three men, two Russians and a Turk from the Caucus region, were apprehended a day before the LGBT protest was scheduled to take place. According to Dogan agency, the three men intended to attack a group of 50 members of the LGBT community who had organised a protest for Saturday. The LGBT protest did not go ahead, as Turkish authorities banned gay parades for fear of ‘public disorder’.
