Democratic Left (DIMAR) MP Ekaterini Markou in a letter to parliament president Evangelos Meimarakis on Thursday announced her intention to leave the party’s parliamentary group and become independent.

She also sent a letter to DIMAR’s president, Fotis Kouvelis, and said that she was attacked by some members of the party and claimed that after the European elections a pointless dialogue was held. As a result “DIMAR was shift away from its original values ​and political ideology. Therefore, I was personally felt alone and isolated”.
