A new 5.1 magnitude earthquake hit Italy after the 3 consecutive tremors that hit central Italy earlier, Wednesday. The epicentre of the new earthquake is in the area of Montereale in central Ambruzzo. No victims were reported. The US Geological Survey said the three strongest earthquakes had a magnitude of 5.3, 5.7 and 5.3. They all struck within the space of about an hour.
Each was at a depth of about 10 kilometres and were roughly 7 kilometres from the town of Amatrice, which was flattened by a powerful tremor last August.
