The Belgium police raids houses in Brussels looking for jihadists

465 islamists from Belgium are fighting abroad!

The Belgium police raided eight houses in the area of Brussels under the wider counter-terrorist operation. The federal prosecutors announced that these investigations are not connected with the November 2015 attacks in Paris with the 130 victims or the attacks of last March with the 32 victims.

As the investigation is underway no further information can be released, according to the federal prosecutor’s office.

What is known until now is that many suspects that were ready to depart or they had just come back from Syria were brought in and they are being questioned.

Belgium is the country with the most islamists fighting in Iraq and Syria for its size, approximatelly 465.

During the investigations there have not been found any weapons or explosives so far.
