Greece remains No.1 in unemploymemnt rate, says Eurostat

Data released shows Spain and Cyprus follow Greece in jobless rate

According to Eurostat, Greece remains the champion in unemployment rates among EU member states, with 23%. The data published by the European statistical services revealed that while the unemployment average was below 10% in the rest of the common currency union and stood at levels below 2009, Greece’s jobless rate was two and a half more. Youth unemployment in Greece amounted to 44.2%, followed by Spain with 42.9% and Italy with 40.1%. The data showed that the average jobless rate in Eurozone dropped by 0.1% to 9.6% compared to the previous month. In terms of general unemployment, Spain followed Greece with 18.4% and Cyprus with 14.3%. The Czech Republic (3.5%), Germany (3.5%) and Hungary (4.5%) had the lowest rates. The figures showed that the total number of unemployed was a little over 20 million.
