Secretary general of Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Dimitris Koutsoumbas met Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and said that “The more Turkey keeps an intransigent and aggressive stance, the more obvious it becomes that the accession of Cyprus to the EU and the famous “acquis communautaire” did not contribute to the settlement of the Cyprus issue and hydrocarbons cannot be used as a mean to solve the Cyprus issue, while on the other hand, agreeing with NATO and the plans of NATO and the Americans will lead to new dangerous situations.”.
“We want to stress that the Cyprus issue was and still is an international issue of invasion and occupation and should be treated as such,” Koutsoumbas added.
He added that “KKE will continue fighting for a Cyprus that is unified, independent, sovereign, federated with a single citizenship, a single sovereignty, a single international identity, common homeland of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, without foreign bases, without foreign troops, without guarantors and protectors.”
