“There is only one Macedonia and it is Greek, as Konstantinos Karamanlis described it. We do not concede the Greek term “Macedonia”, said Panos Kammenos, Greek Defence Minister and President of the Independent Greeks (ANEL), the junior coalition partner of the Greek government. Addressing his party’s national council, Mr. Kammenos continued by saying that other terms like the Albanian “Vardarska” would be acceptable by his party. He made it clear that his party rejected any name which included the term “Macedonia” including the use of any qualifies such as “new” or “upper” would be acceptable.
