Greece has “idyllic islands, long sandy beaches, sun-bleached ruins and turquoise blue sea” with “miles and miles of mainland coastline and over 1,000 islands, of which 227 are inhabited,”. So, it might be quite difficult to choose the your ideal holiday destination.
Destination expert Jane Foster provides some tips in her article published on Telegraph and mentions the best places in Greece suitable for a summer holiday as well as recommendations on how to get there.
Jane Foster includes the Argo-Saronic island of Hydras, the Cyclades mentioning the popular islands Santorini, Mykonos, but also smaller and more restful islands, such as Antiparos and Koufonissi.
She also mentions the medieval island of Rhodes and Patmos, Skiathos, one of the most popular island of Sporades. Chios and Mytilini, as well as beautiful Crete and Ionian islands.
However, apart from the islands, tourists have many places to visit in mainland Greece, such as the beautiful villages of Peloponnese, and in northern Greece, such as Thessaloniki and Halkidiki resorts.
