A shadowy figure was spotted on the moon’s surface last month, and since then it has grabbed the attention of the Internet sparking comments and speculations.

Viewers commenting on the video have attributed the figure to everything from an alien to the ancient Greek statue, “The Colossus of Rhodes,” because of the alleged resemblance.

Of course, the shadow can be explained in a number of ways, particularly as a trick of light or a camera lens glitch. According to experts, the shadow could have been created by any number of geological formations on the moon’s surface.
