58-year-old Oscar winner Tom Hanks and his 57-year-old actress wife Rita Wilson are considered one of the most successful and happy couples in Hollywood, with a 26 year marriage that has never been plagued by rumors of infidelity.

So everyone was surprised when InTouch Weekly reported on Wednesday that the two celebrities took a break for one month this summer, living in separate houses before patching things up during their August vacation in Antiparos, Greece.

The article, entitled “Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Quietly Separated For a Month”, claimed that the couple lived apart for several weeks in July.

While Tom Hanks stayed with a producer friend in the tony Malibu Colony, the producer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding lived alone in their breathtaking $26m Pacific Palisades mansion.

‘They hit a rough patch, they were leading separate lives,’ a source told In Touch. ‘They just weren’t seeing eye to eye.’

But weeks later during that holiday in Greece, the actors had worked things out, InTouch reported.

While at their home on the Greek island of Antiparos, they were ‘inseparable’. The two were also spotted chatting on Saturday before Hanks started paddle boarding.
