Lack of security, non-registered prostitutes and lack of… promoters are some of the “incentives” that led the city of Zurich to create… drive-in brothers a year ago.
They operate on the outskirts of the city and amongst the amenities are a panic button in each box-room, a laundry service and a small cafe, according to Agence France-Presse.
On average, fifteen prostitutes work in the drive-in “boxes” funded by the state. Customers, who must come alone, choose a girl and get inside the car parked in one of the box-rooms.
Prostitutes pay a very small tax and this helps them not to look for customers in the street. Prostitution in Switzerland has been legal since 1942, and has been proven to be a dangerous profession since there have been many injuries in recent years of women abused by their customers.
One year after the opening of the new drive-in brothel, authorities state they are satisfied that the rates of attacks on prostitutes have fallen sharply.
