Developments concerning the supply problems of Europe with natural gas because of the situation in Ukraine and the use of national hydrocarbon resources discussed at a meeting held today in Athens , the Minister of Environment Energy and Climate Change Mr. Yiannis Maniatis, with the US Ambassador Mr. David Pierce.

In particular Mr. Maniatis and Mr. Pierce discussed the initiative of the Greek government in order to create a European emergency mechanism for the supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG / LNG), for the uniform treatment across Europe of possible failures.

According to the Greek Minister “Energy security is a critical and vital field of expression of European solidarity, to effectively address the looming crisis”. The Minister also referred to the efforts made by Athens to exploit national hydrocarbon resources through international tendering rounds of concessions on the interest that has already occurred, and the positive prospects offered to attract major companies in the oil sector in Greece.
