Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik, jailed for the massacre of 77 people in Norway in 2011, wants to establish a “fascist” party from prison.
According to the 34-page letter that he sent to AFP agency, the purpose of the party would be to prevent massacres like the one he commited from happening again.
On July 22 2011, Breivik killed 77 people in total. He first detonated a bomb in Oslo which left eight dead. Then he went on a shooting spree and killed 69 others on the same day, mostly teenagers, at a Labor Party youth camp on Utoya Island.
Breivik pleaded guilty in court and said that his terrible crime was his way of protecting Norway against the spread of Islam and multiculturalism. Having been found sane in August 2012, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
In the letter he sent to the news agency on Friday, Breivik claims that he is now determined to spread his ideology through non-violent means.
Having “converted” to democracy and inspired by the electoral success of the far right Golden Dawn party in Greece, he decided to start his own party, called the Norwegian Fascist Party (NFP) and the Nordic League (NL).
“My heart bleeds as an ex-militant for the barbarity I perpetrated on July 22,” Breivik wrote, adding that the most important thing in his life is to work towards preventing something like this from ever happening again.
