For the 37th consecutive year, the Greek Short Film Festival returns to the city of Drama, to welcome the emerging talents of Greek cinema and also international filmakers. It should be noted that this year the festival celebrates the 20th anniversary since the establishment of its international section.
The festival will run from September 15-20 and its program includes the screenings of 204 films, along with various pre-festival and parallel events (exhibitions, film tributes, seminars and fora).
The opening ceremony of the festival will include tributes to the films of three important Greek filmmakers, Nikos Panagiotopoulos, Yorgos Tsemberopoulos and Tassos Psarras.
In the National Competition Section, 38 out of 165 films submitted were selected, including 2 documentaries and 5 animation films.
In the International Section of the festival, 58 films will be screened from 47 countries. Among filmmakers participating, we find James McTeigue, director of V for Vendetta, who will present his short Caserta Palace Dream, and Milcho Manchevski, who will present his film Thursday.
Beside the National and International Competition sections, this year the Drama Short Film Festival will present a tribute to Polish films that were screened and won awards in Polish and International Festivals.
