Government VP Venizelos: The government will be able to convince its creditors

Regarding election law, he confirmed that this was among the measures included in the agreements signed by Greece.

Newsroom September 15 07:22

The coordination of the government’s work aiming at the final exit from the crisis was the main focus of the meeting that was held between Prime Minister Antonis Samaras and the Government Vice-President and Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos on Monday.

After the end of the meeting, FM Venizelos stated that both he and Samaras were briefed by Finance Minister Gikas Hardouvelis regarding the results of the ECOFIN meeting in Milan.

Furthermore, during the meeting, foreign policy issues were discussed ahead of the UN General Assembly and the meeting on Libya, to be held in Madrid on Tuesday.

In his statements, Mr. Venizelos acknowledged that there is fatigue among the people, after five years of continuous efforts and sacrifices. He stressed that everyone is impatient for immediate, tangible results. “The government has to shoulder the entire weight of the tough negotiations alone,” Mr. Venizelos underlined, adding that the right thing to do would be to promote national unity.

The Government Vice-President also expressed his optimism that the government will be able to convince its creditors, due to its massive and evident fiscal achievements and the huge structural changes.
