Main opposition Coalition of the Left SYRIZA party leader Alexis Tsipras’ four-point economic plan announced at the 79th International Trade Fair on Sunday caused controversy surrounding its cost. In response to this criticism, Mr. Tsipras issued an announcement providing an itemized list with cost estimates for each of the announced proposals.
The SYRIZA party’s program envisions earmarking 5 billion euros over two years to create 300,000 new jobs. In total, SYRIZA values its full budget at 11.362 billion euros in the first year. The party plans on gathering 3 billion euros just by rebooting the economy, 3 billion euros from clamping down on tax evasion and financial crime and 6 billion euros from the redistribution of funds from the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) and Financial Stability Fund.
