Main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras lashed out on Wednesday against Prime Minister Antonis Samaras, in response to the statements the latter allegedly made on Tuesday, that the possibility alone of early elections would result to mass withdrawals of cash from the Greek banks.
Inter alia, the PM was quoted as saying that not a single euro will be left in bank accounts if SYRIZA wins the elections. He also underlined that whoever speaks about national elections now knows nothing of politics, does not want to serve the country’s interests or only wants to serve his own interests.
Mr. Tsipras accused the Prime Minister of “irresponsible and uncontrolled alarmist talk”. More specifically, according to sources within the main opposition, he said that panic has led Mr. Samaras to irresponsible and uncontrolled alarmist talk, underlining that the prime minister’s role requires a sense of responsibility and not irresponsible interventions in the Parliament coffee-shop.
