“Fly me to the Moon”, the airport’s cultural “journey” of concerts, performances, and happenings by popular music groups and well-known artists, welcomes Gadjo Dilo who come once again to the Athens International Airport on September 26 to take us to a “musical journey” through Gypsy Jazz and Swing tunes a la grec.
“Gadjo Dilo” is a unique band created with the sole purpose of reanimating the Manouche gypsy jazz musical tradition. Their source of inspiration is the great gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, characterized by all great jazz musicians — without exception- as a genius.
Django’s artistic and personal journey and the old jazz sounds of the 30s and 40s are listed by “Gadjo Dilo” as their basic influences. In their upcoming LP, entitled “Manouche de grec” they try to explore their love for Django, as well as their love for the older Greek songs.
