IMF: 130 million dollar emergency aid for Ebola

As countries most affected by the epidemic Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone will be the ones to receive help

Newsroom September 26 11:31

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved today a 130 million dollar emergency aid to three countries most affected by the epidemic of Ebola, these being Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
According to a IMF announcement the amount of 41 million dollars will be immediately available to Guinea, another 49 million dollars to Liberia, while the remaining 40 million dollars to Sierra Leone.
The General Manager of the Fund, Ms Christine Lagarde stated that: “The IMF in collaboration with the authorities of each suffering country and partners is working constantly to bring soon the epidemic under control and help rebuild the economy afterwards. The epidemic has already cost far too many lives and the human crisis will also have deep economic consequences”.
IMF has already given to publicity its preliminary estimates, where the public health crisis will result in a slower growth in the above three countries.
Ebola epidemic is the worst ever existed and already has cost the lives of over 3.000 people with the fear of that figure to increase.
