New war threats by Erdogan: “We will not remain silent about military activities on the islands”

Is he building Turkey's alibi for an attack against the Greek islands?

Newsroom February 16 02:46

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan speaking to reporters on a flight on his return from the United Arab Emirates was provocative again, referred to the alleged demilitarization of Greek islands.

“We will not remain silent about the military activities in the Greek islands”, said Tayyip Erdogan, hours after the Greek Parliament voted in favor of the agreement to buy 3+1 French Belh@rra frigates that will begin to join the Greek fleet in 2025.

“It is impossible for us to remain silent about the military activities that are being carried out in violation of the agreements on the islands with a demilitarized regime. After all, we brought this issue to the UN. We will continue to keep it up to date in the future”, Erdogan told Turkish journalists, adding: “In this regard, our Minister warned them”, referring to recent statements by Mevlut Cavusoglu condemned by the United States, the European Union and the UK.

“However”, insisted Erdogan, “if Greece continues this activity, of course, we will take this warning at the highest level, whatever is needed. Because, as you know, the issue of the islands is always controversial. They may force us to bring up these controversial issues. That is why my Minister warned them at a low level not to force us to open these issues for discussion. And he did well”, said Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

It should be noted that the issue of the islands was raised a few days ago by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu. However, the condemnation was unanimous by the US State Department, the European Union and the British Foreign Office.
