The reports refer to what was discussed in public, but also to those that were raised after the media left the room – Milliyet predicts a challenge in which up to … Kurdish fighters will participate!
The visit of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Washington and his meeting with the American President Joe Biden is at the centre of Turkish media coverage, as Ankara appears annoyed by the presence of the Greek PM and the warm welcome he received by Joe Biden.
The Turkish reports cover what was discussed in public, but also the reported issues that came to light after the media left the room. War in Ukraine, accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, Turkish provocations in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus, and the supply of F-35 to Greece.
The Milliyet newspaper presents Greece as one more US State. According to the article, “a sudden airstrike will take place, to which Turkey will be forced to respond and then it will be presented as the aggressor and the US and Greece will launch a comprehensive counterattack against Turkey. The Kurds of Iraq, along with Syria, will also take part in the attack.”
According to the piece, “the attack will not be outside the NATO framework which is why no NATO country will oppose it”.
“The Greek prime minister tried to put Turkey in the crosshairs during his meeting with Biden. It is said that Mitsotakis showed the US President the map of the Blue Homeland “, says Yeni Safak, presenting the Mitsotakis-Biden meeting as overall anti-Turkish.
“Greek PM: Turkey Should Not Use Finland, Sweden’s Accession to NATO as Negotiating Piece” in Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean.
“Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis used expressions aimed at Turkey during his meeting with Biden. Mitsotakis also showed the US President the map of the Blue Homeland”, notes ulushaber.com.tr.
“Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis announced that Greece will proceed with the supply of F-35 fighter jets, after the meeting with President Biden at the US White House” comments csavunma.com, noting that the Greek Minister of Defence Nikos Panagiotopoulos, who accompanies Greek Prime Minister in Washington, will discuss with the American side new equipment and the replacement of old American-made weapons systems.
Haber Turk spoke about a Greek “show” in Washington, describing Mitsotakis’ meetings in the White House and Congress as a “show of strength”, stressing, however, that they “show the weight of Greece in the USA”.
