According to an official announcement released on Friday, the Hellenic Coastguard picked up 237 undocumented migrants and arrested three migrant smugglers in separate incidents that occured in the eastern Aegean Sea.
More specifically, at Agios Georgios beach in Symi, three migrant smugglers and 93 undocumented migrants were arrested while disembarking on the island.
In another incident, 27 undocumented migrants were spotted on Friday morning by a Coastguard patrol boat in the sea region northeast of Agathonissi, on board an inflatable boat.
As soon as they saw the patrol boat, the migrants jumped into the sea. The Coastguard picked them up and escorted them to Pithagorio Port on Samos.
A total of 75 undocumented migrants were collected earlier today in three separate incidents on the southeast Aegean island of Kos.
Finally, 42 others were found in the region of Vlyhada on Chios and were taken to the island’s General Hospital for precautionary medical exams.
