Malta: 104 migrants get rescued in Lampedusa

According to the rescue team MOAs the majority of the rescued immigrants were dehydrated while many suffered burns from gasoline due to the fact that their clothes were soaked with liquid fuels

Times of Malta newspaper reported that a group of 104 migrants, some of whom suffered burns were rescued in the open sea of Lampedusa.

According to the rescue team MOAs the majority of the rescued immigrants were dehydrated while many suffered burns from gasoline due to the fact that their clothes were soaked with liquid fuels

The Rescue Centre of Rome signal for identifying the coincided with the commemoration for the one year after the tragic shipwreck in Lampedusa where 360 immigrants died .The group of immigrants was identified and rescued by the private relief organization MOAs which is based in Malta. All of them are expected to be transferred to Sicily.

The MOAs group began to operate in late August, aiming to detect and rescue migrants in distress.  So far has helped to rescue about 2,200 migrants from Libyan coast in an attempt to pass through Italy in the European territory.
