The actor was found guilty of two counts of attempted rape

Newsroom February 8 05:13

Greek actor Petros Filippidis was unanimously found guilty on two accounts of attempted rape against two of his female colleagues by a decision of the Joint Jury.

On the contrary, judges and jurors, after a marathon session, unanimously acquitted him of charges of repeated rape against another female actress due to reasonable doubts.

The court’s decision on the penalties is expected within the day. Petros Filippidis heard the court’s decision with his wife and son by his side.

At the other end of the room were the three complainants.

The actresses Penelope Anastasopoulou, Lena Drosaki, Andromachi Davlou, Anna Maria Papacharalambous, and Zeta Doukas are also in court.

Petros Filippidis remains free until the trial of his case in the second degree, by court decision. And this, despite the fact that he was unanimously found guilty of two attempted rapes against two of his female colleagues and unanimously not guilty on suspicion of the crime of continuous rape against a third woman, also an actress.

More specifically, the court, with its unanimous decision, sentenced Petros Filippidis to six years in prison for the first attempted rape and five years for the second. The prosecutor recommended a total sentence of eight years in prison, and the court unanimously accepted her recommendation.

However, also unanimously, the court decided to grant suspension to the well-known actor and director, who was imposed restrictive conditions: A ban on leaving the country and appearing once a month at a police station in his area.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis assured farmers that all payments owed to them will be delivered in full, emphasizing that while agricultural workers have every right to demand more support, “extreme forms of protest, such as roadblocks, may exert pressure but ultimately disrupt daily life and do not help us move forward faster”
