Nationwide protests in Greece continue as people are outraged over train crash accident (photos-video)

There are over 10,000 outside the Greek Parliament

Newsroom March 12 02:57

Thousands of protesters have gathered at Syntagma Square in front of the Greek parliament in Athens to express their outrage over the fatal train crash, while a similar huge rally is underway in Greece’second largest city in the north, Thessaloniki.

The protest rallies over the tragic accident on Clean Monday, 02-28-2023 which resulted in the death of 57 people continue, as the public feel, not enough is being done to bring those accountable to justice.

The Metro stations in Omonia and Monastiraki are closed from now on, as were earlier the stations in Syntagma and University, due to the rally organised by ADEDY and PAME in Syntagma.

The centre of Athens has been closed to cars as the movement of vehicles has been suspended on Vasilissis Amalias avenue from the pillars of Olympian Zeus, on Vasilissis Sofias from the height of Sekeri, on Panepistimiou street and on Stadiou street.

Trade unions, mass organisations, labour collectives, and student associations are giving a powerful presence in the centre of Athens, with at least 10,000 protesters gathered outside the Parliament. The protesters are currently in the center of Athens and demonstrating peacefully.

In addition to the large gathering at Syntagma, several local gatherings have also been planned in districts of Athens.
