Cambridge second, Oxford third, Harvard fourth, Stanford fifth - Which is the best Greek university?

Eight Greek universities were included in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) global ranking for 2023-2024, received high distinctions.

The first Greek University in the ranking is the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 347th place, followed by: the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (444th place), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (530th place), the University of Crete (534th place), the University of Patras (places 791-800), the Athens University of Economics (seats 901-950), the University of Ioannina (seats 1001-1200) and the Polytechnic of Crete (seats 1400+). It is pointed out that NTUA’s course in the world ranking is upward, given that last year it was in position 422 and in 2020 in position 454. Last year six Greek universities were included in the corresponding ranking.

In the first two places of the ranking – and therefore the two best universities in the world according to QS – are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Cambridge. The University of Oxford rose to third place, Harvard University rose to fourth, while Stanford University fell from last year to 5th place. It is worth mentioning that MIT creates an important record, being for the 11th consecutive year in the 1st place of the ranking.
