The hotly anticipated Emmy Awards nominations were announced on Wednesday, with HBO drama series “Succession” taking the lead with 27 nominations. On its heels was “The Last of Us”, a Netflix series about an apocalyptic world where people are infected and turned into monstrous cordyceps. Other high performing TV shows included “The White Lotus” (23) and “Ted Lasso” (21).
HBO dominated the lineup this year, securing 127 nominations in total. Alongside “Succession”, “The Last of Us” and “The White Lotus”, the network also secured nominations for “Barry”, “Being Mary Tyler Moore”, “A Black Lady Sketch Show”, “House of the Dragon”, “The Other Two”, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver”, “Moonage Daydream,” “Love and Death”, “100 Foot Wave” and “Perry Mason”.
Netflix received a total of 103 nominations, while Apple TV followed in third place with 54 nominations. Hulu ranked fourth with 42 nominations, while Amazon Prime Video received 41 nominations and FX with 37.
