A German couple living in Rhodes for some years made an extremely beautiful and touching gesture to express their gratitude to the residents of the village of “Laerma” in Rhodes, who a few weeks ago fought together with the flames to extinguish the fire that was burning around their house.
According to the newspaper “Rodia”, Hans and Maria, who have chosen Rhodes as their second home and have been living on the island for the last 14 years, after they and the villagers managed to save their house from the fires, invited all Laermeni to celebrate.
“A touching and beautiful initiative of two wonderful people from Germany Hans and Maria who have been living in Laerma permanently for the last 14 years. They invited at their own expense all Laermans to have fun thanking them for helping to extinguish the fire last July around their house. Well done to them. There is still philanthropy and humanity!” wrote about the German couple, in a Facebook post, Archimandrite Nektarios Pokkias, Abbot of the Tharri Monastery in Rhodes.
