André Rieu: The superstar maestro who throws wild parties with classical music

The famous Dutch maestro and violinist who stirs up the crowds with his temperament, is coming to Athens for the first time for two performances at the OAKA Indoor Stadium.

Newsroom February 5 10:12

The famous Dutch maestro and violinist who stirs up the crowds with his temperament, radically changing the atmosphere of classical concerts, is coming to Athens for the first time for two performances with the Johann Strauss Orchestra on March 12 and 13, at the OAKA Indoor Stadium.

Could you imagine the audience of a classical concert dancing wildly, clapping rhythmically and laughing heartily in response to the jokes of the maestro who sweeps the stage like a famous pop star?

And yet, these and many more unexpected things happen in the musical performances of the internationally renowned and sought-after Dutch André Rieu, who will come to Athens for the first time, together with his orchestra, on March 12 and 13, at the OAKA Indoor Stadium, in order to thrill the Greek audience with his rhythmic melodies.

For the last thirty years André Rieu has been touring the world, together with the members of the Johann Strauss Orchestra, which he himself created.

Together, like a close-knit musical family, they all serve a common vision: to make people have a good time with the music they love.

And they succeed, every time, with their virtuosic skills, their wide repertoire, which is based on classical waltzes but extends to film music, musicals and sometimes pop, the elaborate period costumes they wear on stage, the fairy-tale images that surround them, but above all thanks to their ability to communicate with their audience.
