Strong rainfall began to affect Attica shortly after midnight, as meteorologist Giannis Kallianos had predicted.
The severe weather express started from the west.
“It will be a severe weather event, lasting a maximum of 24 hours. So, we should not expect particularly long duration in this wave of bad weather”, said Giannis Kallianos.
As he mentioned, the strongest storms will occur until tomorrow afternoon, in areas of the Ionian Islands, the Peloponnese, eastern Central Greece, including Attica, in Evia and the Cyclades, in Crete, and the Dodecanese.
Regarding Attica, he emphasized that “after midnight, we will have strong rains and storms in most areas,” adding that it will be a widespread phenomenon.
“We expect a temporary improvement from Monday afternoon, but temporary because we expect again rain and storms on Thursday – Friday,” Mr. Kallianos said.

The rest of Monday 26/02 is expected to have rain and storms mainly in Central and Western Macedonia, in Thessaly, in Central and Eastern Sterea, in the Peloponnese as well as in Central and Southern Aegean. In Attica, the phenomena are expected to continue, but they will significantly weaken by the afternoon.”
It is noted that on Sunday afternoon, the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (HNMS) proceeded with the update of the special bulletin.
The bad weather is expected to affect most areas of the country from tonight until early Tuesday morning.
