Ships moored at ports
Ships across the country will remain moored at ports on Great Wednesday, May 1, as the Panhellenic Seafarers’ Federation decided to participate in the nationwide – labor 24-hour strike announced by GSEE.
The strike, which concerns all categories of ships nationwide, will begin at 00:01 on the morning of Wednesday, 1-5-2024, and will end at 24:00 on the same day.
“The Seafarers once again pay tribute this year, as they did in the past, with respect and memory on the iconic day that literally changed the course of history and is identified and associated with the multifaceted struggles of all Workers in our Country and around the world,” said the union of seafarers in a statement.
The PNO demands the absorption of all unemployed seafarers, the elimination of black uninsured labor, the implementation of Collective Labor Agreements in all categories of ships, and the immediate abolition of all anti-labor provisions.
It also emphasizes the urgent need to finally put a stop to the continuous violation of the legal working hours and employment limits of Seafarers, to immediately abolish reduced organic compositions, and to establish new ones that truly meet modern needs.
It also deems the upgrade of medical care as imperative and immediate.
