Yorgos Lanthimos: Continues collaborations with Emma Stone – She will be the lead in his new film

Begonia will be based on the 2003 Korean film Save the Green Planet

Newsroom May 20 01:29

Yorgos Lanthimos continues to collaborate with his muse, Oscar-winning Emma Stone, choosing her once again as the lead actress for his next project titled Bugonia. The drama will also star Jesse Plemons, who, along with Stone, appears in Lanthimos’ Kinds of Kindness. This three-chapter film premiered just this past Friday at this year’s Cannes Festival.

Bugonia follows two young conspiracy theorists who kidnap the high-ranking CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. The screenplay is written by Will Tracy, the screenwriter of Succession and The Menu.

Bugonia is based on the 2003 Korean film Save the Green Planet. This will mark their fifth collaboration after The Favourite, Poor Things, Kinds of Kindness, and the short film Bleat.
