New York Times shows positive side of Athens (Watch the video)

A capital city on its way back to recovery

Newsroom October 18 02:53

New York Times online hosts a video that depicts a different side of Athens, Greece’s capital city which was ultiamtelyreborn through the economic turmoil to become creative and confidently looking towards the future.

The online video shows a side of Athens that outweighs the negative imagery of a broken-down, rioting capital city.

“Enterprising young fashion and graphic designers are opening shops celebrating the classic lines of ancient Greece and the anarchic wit of modern times… The five-year-old Acropolis Museum is consistently rated one of the top museums in the world, and the National Museum of Contemporary Art is set to move into a new building later this year.”

Joanna Kakissis of the New York Times described her 36 hours in Athens that included a stroll on Filopappou hill (near the Acropolis), a walk up to the Acropolis, lunch, snacks, wining, coffee, a drink, and and a visit to the Museum of Cycladic Art.

Joanna Kakissis’ video shows an optimistic message about Athens which finally seems to have found its way back on track despite any recent difficulties.

“Even rough times have silver linings,” concludes Joanna Kakissis.
