Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during his visit to the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, wished the new minister strength in his challenging role.
The Prime Minister pointed out that this ministry was created at the beginning of a significant crisis in 2020 and emphasized that the country is implementing a strict but fair immigration policy.
“The government’s track record is positive,” Mr. Mitsotakis stressed, noting among other things that “we are working to increase the absorption of European funds to ensure a steady flow of financing,” with Greece seeking a larger share.
He also highlighted that the exemplary work done by our country is recognized and noted that the ministry is also addressing the new challenges of legal migration.
Referring to unaccompanied minors, Mr. Mitsotakis emphasized that significant work has been done for the suffering souls arriving from troubled areas, and it is a mission that we have completed and received commendations for.
“We have a lot of work to do in the ministry, but with immigration, however, we have established a clear and effective path,” the Prime Minister added.
