For years, Naxos has been a popular destination mainly for Greek families. A major advantage for them is its long sandy beaches, around which there are many settlements and infrastructures. In recent years, the number of foreign visitors has been increasing, making the island’s famous beaches popular with them as well.
Agios Prokopios
Located 5 kilometers from Chora, this large bay features crystal clear waters and a vast sandy beach. It is the most internationally known and awarded beach on Naxos, which is why it is always bustling with people. It has been ranked among the top 10 beaches in Europe and the top 3 in Greece, consistently earning the Blue Flag. Here, you will find all the amenities of a well-organized beach: beach bars, restaurants, luxury and boutique hotels, umbrellas and loungers, water sports, lifeguards, beach volleyball, shops, and more. The western side is less crowded, but caution is needed as the water deepens sharply.
Agios Georgios
A popular beach near Chora, praised by the Guardian as ideal for families. It has shallow waters and is relatively sheltered from the wind. The beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, and there are taverns, cafes, hotels, and a southern section suitable for surfing.
Agiassos
This long sandy beach with shallow, clear waters and a small but significant wetland nearby remains relatively untouched by intense tourist development. On the beach, you will find rooms for rent and taverns.
Agia Anna
A famous beach located next to Agios Prokopios. It is large, sandy, with clear waters, and organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. There are many beach bars, taverns, water sports facilities, and hotels along the beach. Santana Beach Club stands out among the others.
Amitis
The beach of Egari has light-colored sand and offers a beautiful sunset. It is exposed to the north winds and usually has waves, making it a favorite among windsurfers.
Plaka
A natural continuation of Agia Anna, this long beach offers a view of Paros. It is one of the popular beaches on the island, organized in places with umbrellas and sunbeds. Beach bars and taverns operate here, and behind the sandy beach are small hills with dunes. Notable establishments include the eco-style beach bar Nomad and Caya Beach Naxos.
Abram
A bay in the north of the island, exposed to meltemi winds and large waves. However, there are sheltered spots at its edges.
Aliko
This peninsula is next to the extensive beach of Glyfada in the southwest of the island, with easy access. There are small sandy beaches (Mikro Aliko, Kedros, Hawaii) and cedar stands. It is exposed to the western winds, and its waters are usually cold. The FBI canteen in Hawaii is famous for its street food.

Glyfada
An endless sandy beach in the southwest, located next to Kastraki beach and the cedar forest in Alikos. You can find it by following the Chora-Alykos road.
Kastraki
A small bay with calm waters resembling a swimming pool, equipped with umbrellas and loungers. It is located behind the Mikri Vigla peninsula and borders Glyfada beach.
Mikri Vigla
This beautiful sandy beach is divided into two (forming Parthena and Limanaki). It is a paradise for windsurfers, especially kite surfers. Even when there is a strong wind and waves, you can swim in the closed bay, admiring the athletes.
Pyrgaki
A beautiful sandy beach next to Alikos with a view of Ios and Heraklia. It is quiet since relatively few visitors make it this far.
Lionas
A closed bay next to the village of the same name, near the emery mines on the northeastern side of Naxos. It has a characteristic steep rock on the south side, white pebbles, and crystal-clear water that deepens sharply. There are fish restaurants and an old tarsana.

Panormos or Panermos
The beach of the settlement of the same name is the furthest from Chora (about 50 kilometers) and a favorite among visitors who arrive by boat, as the closed bay offers protection. It has sand and some pebbles, tamarisk trees for shade, and tranquility. There is a canteen.
Kalandos
In the southernmost part of the island, with shallow water and sand, it is suitable for families. A small wetland has formed due to the river that flows into Kalandos.
