Olympics: Good Draw for Tsitsipas, Djokovic-Nadal Battle

Stefanos Tsitsipas has learned his first opponent in the Olympic tennis tournament in Paris 2024, which will be the Belgian Zizou Bergs

Newsroom July 25 05:31

The 25-year-old Belgian is ranked No. 87 in the world and has been defeated both times he has faced Tsitsipas, the last time being in the first round of this year’s Australian Open with a score of 3-1.

Assuming Tsitsipas performs well, he will likely face British player Daniel Evans (No. 59) in the 2nd round of the Olympic Games. Evans will first play against Tunisian Moez Etzargui in the opening round.

In the 3rd round, the 26-year-old Greek tennis player could meet the No. 12 seed, Sebastian Baez of Argentina. From the quarter-finals onwards, the competition becomes very tough for Tsitsipas, as he could potentially face Novak Djokovic or Rafa Nadal in the quarters, the Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals, and Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

In men’s doubles, Stefanos and his brother Petros Tsitsipas will play against the Portuguese duo of Borges and Cabral in the first round.
